We have chosen this diverse group to highlight the pervasive and insidious nature of violence against women, which affects each of our lives, regardless of gender.

Ending violence against women in the UK:

The Helen Bamber Foundation: We will support the Foundation's Women's Programme, which offers holistic support to women who have survived situations of trafficking, torture, sexual exploitation/slavery and other gross human rights violations. They provide healthcare, psychotherapy, psychiatry, somatic/body therapies, creative groups, legal advocacy, and other social services. The Foundation also seeks to educate and engage the local and global community through arts-based events, such as the public exhibition 'Journey - Against Sex Trafficking' (www.the-journey.co.uk)

Tender: We will support Tender's education programmes in Greater London, which use drama and art-based practice with children in schools, Pupil Referral Units and youth centres to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence and promote healthy relationships based on equality and respect. They also offer violence prevention and domestic violence awareness training for adults to challenge violence-tolerant attitudes and equip adults to support young people.

Woman's Trust: We will support the work of Woman's Trust, an independent, confidential and client led service mental health and support service for women affected by domestic violence, offering one-to-one counselling, weekly support groups and self-development workshops for women and advocacy for women who live in the London boroughs Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea and Greenwich. No one likes them, and it’s only natural to shut them out. We are a collective of human rights specialists who respond with compassion and creativity to the legacy of cruelty.
We work with survivors of genocide, torture, trafficking and rape who seek safety and refuge. We draw upon their inner resources, providing them with practical support and treatment to deal with their pasts and build new futures

Our clients are courageous but vulnerable people. The mental scars are expressed through nightmares, horrifying flashbacks and self-loathing. We help to mend what was broken in a safe and supportive environment, where restorative relationships enable survivors to feel whole again.
'What We Do'
Our work with thousands of survivors has taught us to appreciate the differences as well as recognize the similarities in human responses to images and experiences of catastrophic violence and loss. What works for one person may not work for another. Therefore we are flexible and adapt our approach according to the needs of each individual person.

In addition to a small and committed core team of dedicated HBF clinicians we are adept at harnessing and orchestrating the external contributions of solicitors, barristers, doctors, counsellors, social workers and others to deliver legal support, health and psychological care, social welfare and rehabilitation as required. We are committed to best practice, evolving and sharing the most effective treatment methods with other professionals in our field.
