Tickets - going, going, gone!

You heard right - tickets for our 29th March performances at the Etcetera Theatre are nearly sold out! There is still room for the matinee and very VERY limited availability for the evening, so act fast - you won't want to miss out. phew!

we spent a good few hours at The Drill Hall today, a wonderful Bloomsbury location with lovely light and airy rehearsal rooms. Check it out here: http://www.drillhall.co.uk/

The cast are pretty much off-book now with everyone working hard to memorise their monologues. i'm glad i'm not an actor! i'm very impressed with anyone who can memorise three pages of straight dialogue.

everyone is getting closer and closer to delivering really memorable performances. it's such fun to be part of this. all the performers involved have connected with their pieces in their own special way and there are some real moments of magic.

now all we have to do is strike the perfect balance in the running order. each of the pieces has its own tensions and strengths, it's going to be a rollercoaster ride for the audience, we're everything from provocative to hilarious.

but i have to say, today i'm feeling rather confident that Saturday 29th will be a wonderful experience for all concerned.

now all we have to do is post the flyers, sell the tickets, learn the words, print the programmes, do a technical run through, and get up to full speed with only two remaining rehearsals...

yup - all's well!

'Who We Are'

Exploitation, violence and atrocity are words familiar to all of us. No one likes them, and it’s only natural to shut them out. We are a collective of human rights specialists who respond with compassion and creativity to the legacy of cruelty.

We work with survivors of genocide, torture, trafficking and rape who seek safety and refuge. We draw upon their inner resources, providing them with practical support and treatment to deal with their pasts and build new futures

Our clients are courageous but vulnerable people. The mental scars are expressed through nightmares, horrifying flashbacks and self-loathing. We help to mend what was broken in a safe and supportive environment, where restorative relationships enable survivors to feel whole again.

'What We Do'
Our work with thousands of survivors has taught us to appreciate the differences as well as recognize the similarities in human responses to images and experiences of catastrophic violence and loss. What works for one person may not work for another. Therefore we are flexible and adapt our approach according to the needs of each individual person.

In addition to a small and committed core team of dedicated HBF clinicians we are adept at harnessing and orchestrating the external contributions of solicitors, barristers, doctors, counsellors, social workers and others to deliver legal support, health and psychological care, social welfare and rehabilitation as required. We are committed to best practice, evolving and sharing the most effective treatment methods with other professionals in our field. We also undertake educational and human rights advocacy work at local, regional and national level.

About The Play

• A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer: Writings To Stop Violence Against Women and Girls, is a groundbreaking collection of monologues by world-renowned authors and playwrights, edited by Eve Ensler and Mollie Doyle and commissioned by V-Day for the first V-Day: Until the Violence Stops festival, which took place June 2006 in New York City. All proceeds from the book will benefit V-Day.

  These diverse voices rise up in a collective roar to break open, expose, and examine the insidiousness of violence at all levels: brutality, neglect, a punch, even a put-down.
